THE CONTRACT

Welcome to Bark Side of the Moon! These Terms & Conditions outline the responsibilities of both our team and you, the pawrent, to ensure your dog has a safe, fun, and enriching experience every time they visit.

By using our services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms outlined below.

1. Booking & Behaviour Disclosure

  • We ask all clients to provide full, honest, and accurate information about their dog during the booking and registration process via our system, Collar.

  • Please let us know if your dog has behavioural traits we should be aware of — such as excessive barking, aggression, separation anxiety, destructive habits, incontinence, or fears/phobias — so we can provide the best care possible.

  • If your dog injures another dog or person while in our care, you agree to be fully responsible for any costs, including veterinary treatment and associated expenses.

2. Meet & Greet Trial

  • Before joining Bark Side of the Moon full-time, all new dogs must attend a complimentary Meet & Greet session at our facility.

  • This gives your dog a chance to get comfortable, and us the chance to assess suitability for daycare.

3. Daycare Attendance & Collection

  • Dogs must arrive and be collected at the agreed times. We understand things happen — if you’re running late, please let us know ASAP.

  • Delays that require additional care may incur extra fees.

4. Cancellations

  • Cancellations made with more than 48 hours’ notice are free.

  • Less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged in full. If prepayment has been made and cancellation is within our notice period, we’ll refund you.

5. Health & Veterinary Care

  • All dogs attending must be fully vaccinated, wormed, and treated for fleas/ticks. We reserve the right to turn away any unwell dog to protect others in our care.

  • If your dog becomes unwell or injured during their visit, we will contact you and your emergency contact immediately. If urgent action is required, we will take your dog to the nearest vet and you agree to cover any costs incurred.

  • A signed Vet Release Form is required for all dogs in our care.

6. Feeding & Supplies

  • If insufficient food or supplies are provided, we’ll top up your dog’s essentials and the cost will be added to your bill.

7. Off-Lead Consent

  • We may exercise your dog off-lead in secure, designated areas. If you consent to this, you’ll be asked to sign an Off-Lead Disclaimer accepting full responsibility.

8. Emergency Situations

  • If a serious situation arises (e.g. fire, flood, illness, staff emergency), we will attempt to contact you and your emergency contact immediately. Temporary alternative care may be arranged if necessary.

  • If action is needed at your home (e.g. unsafe access, water leak), we reserve the right to act in the best interests of safety and will inform you ASAP.

9. Ongoing Updates

  • If there are any changes to your dog’s routine, health, or behaviour, please update us promptly.

  • Dogs not collected within 7 days of the agreed date, with no contact, will be considered abandoned and necessary action taken.

10. Grooming Terms

To help us provide the very best care for your dog during their grooming appointment, we kindly ask all doggy parents to read and agree to the following:

Preventative Care & Hygiene

All dogs visiting Bark Side of the Moon for grooming must be fully vaccinated, regularly wormed, and flea-treated. If we find live fleas during the appointment, a £10 cleaning charge will be added to your grooming fee to allow us to deep-clean the grooming area.

Health Conditions

Please let us know in advance if your dog has any medical issues, skin sensitivities, or existing health conditions that may affect their groom. Your dog’s comfort and safety are our priority.

Behavioural Needs

It’s important you inform us if your dog has ever shown signs of aggression, bitten, or is known to be nervous about grooming. We may use a muzzle if necessary for safety. If a dog becomes too stressed or aggressive, we may stop the session early and call you for collection. The full grooming fee will still apply.

Reactions to Grooming

While we use gentle techniques and natural products, some dogs may have skin or behavioural reactions to the grooming process (e.g. clipping, drying, or ear plucking). We always aim to minimise any discomfort.

Matted Coats

In line with the Animal Welfare Act 2006, we allow up to 15 minutes for careful de-matting. If this isn’t possible, your dog’s coat may need to be shaved to remove the mats. A charge of £10–£15 will apply for de-matting or shave-offs. In extreme cases, we may decline the groom and refer you to a vet. The grooming fee still applies.

Accidents

Grooming tools are sharp, and although our groomer takes the greatest care, minor accidents such as nicks, scratches, or nail quickening can occasionally happen, particularly if your dog is very wriggly on the table.

Photo Permission

We love capturing our doggy clients looking fresh and fabulous! By using our grooming services, you agree that Bark Side of the Moon may use photos of your dog (of whom you are the legal owner) for our social media or promotional content.

Appointments & Arrival

Please arrive on time. If you're more than 15 minutes late, your slot may be cancelled and still charged in full.

Ensure your dog has been to the toilet before arriving.

We’ll give you a pick-up time — please don’t arrive early as it may excite your dog and make finishing the groom difficult. Late pick-ups may be charged £10 at our discretion.

Cancellations

Missed appointments or cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged in full. Payment must be received before rebooking.

Teeth Cleaning

We use a non-invasive EMIpet toothbrush. It’s quiet, gentle, and removes plaque and tartar. Some gum bleeding may occur.

If your dog shows signs of discomfort, has loose teeth, or becomes stressed, the session may be stopped. Full fee still applies.

You’ll need to purchase a personal EMIpet toothbrush head for your dog.

Right to Refuse

We reserve the right to refuse or stop a groom at any time if it poses a risk to your pet or our groomer. The grooming fee may still apply.

Correction Policy

If you’re not happy with the groom, let us know within 24 hours and we’ll make a correction free of charge. After that, a fee will be payable.

Medical Emergencies

If your dog becomes ill or injured during the session, we’ll seek veterinary care. You agree to cover any costs unless the issue was caused by our negligence.

Data Protection

We’ll store your contact details and dog’s info securely in line with GDPR guidelines. We may also contact you about future services or promotions by phone, email, or text. You can opt out at any time.

Liability Waiver

By attending a grooming session, you accept that Bark Side of the Moon and its team are not liable for injury, loss, or damage arising from your dog’s grooming, except in cases of proven negligence. Your dog attends at your own risk.

Agreement

By using our grooming service, you agree to these terms. If any part is found invalid, the rest remains fully enforceable. These terms apply to you and any successors or representatives.

11. Photography & Promotion

We often take photos and videos of the dogs for social media and marketing. By using our services, you give us permission to share images of your dog unless you’ve opted out.

12. Liability

  • Bark Side of the Moon will always act with care, love and professionalism. However, dogs are unpredictable animals and we cannot accept liability for incidents unless they are the result of proven negligence.

  • You agree to indemnify Bark Side of the Moon against all claims, damages, losses, and costs resulting from your dog’s actions.

13. Ongoing Agreement

By registering and using our services, you agree that these terms cover all future bookings with Bark Side of the Moon. We may update these terms from time to time, and you’ll always be notified of any significant changes.
